Aberystwyth sits on the west coast of Wales on the mid coast between north and south. It is relatively isolated in this position as the major towns of the north and south are a fair way away. Aberystwyth means the mouth of the river Ystwyth. Two rivers meet the sea here - the river Ystwyth and the river Rheidol. It has two beaches, one the north side of the castle and the other to the south which ends at the harbour. At the most northerly point of the beaches is Constitution Hill which boasts an electric cliff railway from which there are beautiful views across the region.
